Staying in Legian, Bali

Legian offers guests a wider selection of upmarket accommodation, fashion and nightlife and is gradually morphing into an upmarket destination whist managing to maintain its rough edges.

Legian, which spans the area to the north of Kuta between Jl. Melasti until just before Jalan Arjuna, is often mentioned in the same breath as Kuta and does in fact share many similarities to Kuta. However, it offers guests a wider selection of upmarket accommodation, fashion and nightlife and is gradually morphing into an upmarket destination whist managing to maintain its rough edges.

Accomodation & Real Estate

Legian has a wide selection of mid to high range hotels, holiday apartments as well as a healthy selection of both serviced and self-contained villas. In Legian, more high-end villas are replacing houses but they are not nearly as plentiful as in Seminyak. You are more likely to find apartments or the opportunity to buy up an old property for renovation.

Essentials & Amenities

As with most populated areas in Bali, essential items are pretty easy to find around Legian. There is several supermarkets within this area that provide a quality selection of local and imported products including a wide range of deli items such as cheese, meats, sauces, wines and other such sought after items, sourced specifically from Europe, Australia, USA, and Asia.

There isn’t an International or local hospital built in this area but you don’t have to go far to find one as there are several located within a fifteen-minute drive. There is a range of private and public medical clinics, some of which are available 24 hours. Each of these provides a perfectly reasonable medical service for minor problems. This area also has two International schools.

Traffic & Transport

Traffic is always busy during the late night. This is especially true on South Legian main street, between Kuta and North Legian, due to it’s very busy nightlife. Taxis are plentiful as well as private cars and there is even the possibility of catching motorbike taxi if there is only one of you.
