Nusa Dua is an obscure strip of coast on Bali’s southern Bukit, with striking white sand beaches and two peninsular islets. It is located 40 km from the Ngurah Rai International Airport. Part of Nusa Dua is a closed enclave, or tourism district, that is located on the southeast side of the peninsula. Atmosphere in Nusa Dua is relatively quiet and relaxed. As a result, Nusa Dua is an official venue for International conferences, meetings and events attended by important figures from all over the world. The whole area has a postcard perfect clean, dream-like, tropical paradise feeling about it that makes the area popular with both huge international resorts and honeymooners.

Tanjung Benoa is the northern extension of Nusa Dua. Now that the main enclave of Nusa Dua is full, many international hotels are choosing to build in this area. Both these areas feature calm waters and a white sand beach perfect for sunbathing. Tanjung Benoa has always been an area popular for water sports. In addition, Tanjung Benoa has the dubious distinction of being the centre of Bali’s turtle trade.
Restaurants & Nightlife
There is an extraordinary standard of cuisine in this area. All the top restaurants are located within the resorts and tend to come with a high price tag. But, there are exceptions to this rule. If you are looking for somewhere a little more relaxed, you will need to go to Tanjung Benoa or Bualu village.
This area is fairly quiet at night as most of the hotels have their own bar and entertainment. As with the restaurants, the hotel bars, usually individual and stylish premise in their own right, are open to the public. You can also check out Jalan Mengiat where you can discover some relaxed and casual bars. Most of these would be closed by 2am.
Tourist Attractions & Activities
The beach is renowned for its crystal shallow water and stretches of white sand. It is well maintained by each of the beachfront resorts in the area. Chinese temple, Mosque and Hindu temple, each built within 100 meters of the other, are located on the tip of the peninsula. They are all interesting places to discover.
Seaweed farming in the shallow waters of Geger Beach. The local farmers cultivate, harvest and export seaweed for cosmetics, food and medicines. Turtle Island, which can be reached from Tanjung Benoa beach, is about 20 minutes boat ride. The journey is wonderful if you can find a glass bottom boat to take you across. You might like to witness the regular turtle release program as a part of conservations activities that include collecting the turtle eggs, hatching them under ideal conditions and releasing them back to their natural environment. Pasifika Art Museum will take you on a journey through their collection of artwork from Bali, Asia and Pacific. The Museum is open everyday from 10.00 to 18.00. Admission fee Rp 50,000, free entry for children under 15 years.
Surfing The area has some good surfing and surfers will flock to the area when the weather indicates reasonable waves. Mostly the breaks are off shore, so a long paddle is required. Water sports are offered by an array of companies. Activities include snorkelling, scuba diving, paragliding, surfing, kite surfing, Jet Ski, banana boat, and much much more. If the price you are quoted seems a little high you should try to bargain. Some companies overcharge international tourists by around 50 percent.
Volley Ball Find a net on the beach, or ask to use one of the courts available at the resort hotels. Tennis, gym & squash are offered at most of the high-end hotels. Paintball and Bowling can be a fun alternative to the norm. There are both of these activities offered are around the Nusa Dua and Bukit area. Golf, is located in the deluxe resort environment of Nusa Dua. This course provides golf enthusiasts with a world championship 18-hole golf course in a spectacular seaside setting.
Massage and Spa is a divine option for a full day of relaxation. Go directly to any of the high-end resort and indulge yourself.
Shopping opportunities are divided between the upmarket Galleria, a shopper’s heaven filled with boutique fashion stores and designer must have items and the cheap clothing markets at the front of Nusa Dua enclave. Here you will have to bargain for everything from socks to watches. At the designer stores of Galleria, you certainly wont need to bother with risky bargaining. A second tourist market where you can hunt for a great bargain is situated on Jalan Pantai Mengiat.
