about this place

This mosque is located at Jl. Hayam Wuruk near the Sawah Besar - Ketapang pedestrian bridge. It was built in 1786, the first mosque for Chinese Moslems in the Glodok (Chinatown) region. In 1957 this mosque was rebuilt and given some additions. At the back of the mosque is a Moslem grave. This is the grave of Atimah Hwu, who probably died in 1792. She was thought to be the wife of the founder of the mosque, Chan Tsin Hwu, a merchant and devout Moslem. This man left his wife to go traveling to spread the teachings of Islam
