What is the role of the New Zealand Embassy in Indonesia? The New Zealand Embassy in Indonesia works to enhance cooperation with Indonesia and ASEAN, promote and protect New Zealand’s interests, and provide consular services to New Zealanders in Indonesia. Who works in the Embassy? The Embassy has eleven staff seconded from the New Zealand Government. New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and Immigration New Zealand also maintain offices in Jakarta, co-located with the Embassy. The Embassy employs approximately forty Indonesian staff. The Embassy is led by the Ambassador, who has overall responsibility for the work of the New Zealand Government in Indonesia. The Ambassador is supported by six staff from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), including the Deputy Head of Mission, the Manager of the New Zealand Aid Programme in Indonesia, a Consul / officer manager, and three Second Secretaries who work on foreign policy and economic issues – Second Secretary (Political), Second Secretary (Trade and Economic), Second Secretary (Regional).
