about this place

Since opening in 1998 the Rip Curl School of Surf has taught more than 80,000 students to surf, kite, wake and windsurf in Bali. With schools now in Legian, Sanur, Kuta and Jimbaran, we are able to cover both coasts of Bali and have the pick of the best breaks wet season or dry season. We transfer knowledge and techniques in surfing from our research and keep developing the best methods in learning to surf for surf lessons, and have a structured course. Our fleet of vans and boats are ready to transport you to the best spots and we always go that little bit further to make sure our students get everything out of their time with us for their surfing, kiting, SUP'ing, waking and windsurfing. The strong relationship between the Rip Curl brand and our school's philosophy behind 'The Search' defines the school's role in the Rip Curl family. Our mission has always been to provide each and every student with the ultimate experience in every step of their search, from the pick up, the welcome at the reception, the best-in-class facilities, equipment and our education programs. We aim to be a cool and vibrant place of learning, where everyone can discover their search and share their experience with others who also share the passion for knowledge and respect for our oceans. The Rip Curl School of Surf goes to great effort to ensure that our foreign and local crew are amongst the highest qualified instructors in the world. We fly in certification instructors or send our crew abroad to complete levels in all of our different course disciplines, making sure we are teaching the latest and most efficient programs. We insist our front line crew and drivers also partake in our activities to give them an understanding of our programs, so they are able to answer questions and more importantly share in your experience.

Took a first-time surfing lesson with Ripcurl and it was a blast. The instructors made getting on the board and hitting the waves very simple and I was surprised by how quickly I picked up the basic skills. The friendly staff provided us with the appropriate safety gear and a water bottle for the lesson and gave us a thorough briefing before entering the water. Had loads of fun and would definitely surf with this school again. Two thumbs up!
