“THE POND” is opening in Bali (Ubud) in July. It is a restaurant built and decorated with Balinese flair for energetic, vibrant colors, natural materials and classic colonial terra-cotta with a contemporary minimalist twist. Typically Balinese, it has a very open feel overlooking extensive rice fields and a large lotus pond. You can dine at tables or lounge on traditional mattress couches and observe part of the cycle of rice farming by day or lantern-lit eel searches by night (moonlight on rice paddies has a special magic). Just as the décor and architecture fuse traditional and contemporary styles our chef has designed a menu to offer international favorites (with a hint of Bali spices) as well as uniquely Balinese dishes (like crispy duck & Grilled Baby Ribs Sambal Bali), and cuisine from other parts of Indonesia and Asia. Among other things we offer daily fresh local seafood as well as imported varieties. All of our food is prepared with naturally grown ingredients and we do not use monosodium glutamate (MSG). We have beverages to suite every taste and wine and cocktail lists. We take great pride in our coffees especially our Toraja Coffee, Balinese Coffee, Australian Coffex Coffee and Illy Coffee to finish off a perfect meal. Afterwards you can browse our mini library and visit our traditional Art and Gift Shop. We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
